The entertainment industry is heavily gatekept, dominated by big players & a "it's all about who you know" mentality. We don't care about who you know, or where you are in your career. We have events for everyone, making us a great step forward for people working to realize their dreams of becoming full-time artists. Whether someone makes music, is a photographer, actor, painter, artisan, dancer, or otherwise, Kontra helps bridge the gap of access into these industries.
OUR FLAGSHIP EVENTS
Rising is the parent brand for two major events of ours:
Rising Tides, an artist music camp culminating in a collaborative album, live show, and documentary
Rising Stars, a music competition featuring artists selected from an application, with two rounds and a panel of 4 judges on one night of incredible music and performance
Hit Shuffle is our once-a-year show featuring artists that span different genres, coming together to make a show that expands past limits and labels. Read more about our first iteration of this event

TALENT BOOKING SERVICES
Have a show already curated with a finalized lineup but need help booking with a venue? We’ll handle the outreach- you only pay us if the show gets booked!
OPEN MICS
Our bread and butter! We have a short early bird access period where performer sign-ups are free. After that, artists must subscribe to our Patreon to perform. Each artist gets 7 minutes or two songs = ~7 min.
Each open mic also has 1 Spotlight Artist who gets 20 minutes! Spotlight Artists are chosen through application only available on our Patreon
WRITER’S ROUND
Intimate- style settings where a small handful of curated artists get the chance to talk about the process of writing 2 songs in their discography. This event gives artists the chance to bolster their storytelling skills, the spotlight and space to talk about their process, and the experience of an artist interview at the end of the event!
CONTENT CREATION DAYS
You’re an artist! You need content! Maybe you hate doing that, maybe you just have an idea that needs more people to make it come to life. We hold free content days for a collaborative day of getting shit done for the algorithms.
WORKSHOPS
Education, mentorship, and community info sharing! We hold workshops on various industry-relevant topics, such as breakdowns on distribution platforms, how to market yourself, and how to pitch yourself to venues.
COLLABORATION WITH LOCAL AND NATIONAL BUSINESSES
Whether you’d like to reach new or wider audiences, bring awareness to your brand, work on making an event bigger and better, or simply start to run events out of your venue, we’d love to work with you! We have worked with bars, established music venues, recording studios, DIY event spaces, and touring event-makers.
